4. DANIEL LINDMARK, HONORARY DOCTORATE IN THEOLOGY, ÅBO AKADEMI
The Faculty of Arts, Psychology and Theology at Åbo Akademi University, Finland has decided to present an honorary doctorate in theology to Daniel Lindmark for his contributions to Church History as well as History and Education. An Honorary Doctorate is conferred by the university in recognition of the person’s solid scientific merits or substantial contributions in society.

For historians of education, this is an obvious and welcome choice by Åbo akademi. As one of the main drivers behind the expansion of history of education in Swedish during the last 20 years, his contributions are numerous. This includes his work with several workshops and conferences, including ISCHE 2006 and the 5ht Nordic conference in history of education, and not the least two graduate schools, and the creation of the Nordic Journal of Educational History. His publications are of course impressive in range and depth, and includes the following English language publications:

5. INAUGURAL LECTURE: CHRISTIAN YDESEN, APRIL 29
Since January 1 2022, CfU has been so fortunate to have gained another full professor, namely Christian Ydesen. Ydesen is an internationally recognized scholar. He has been a visiting scholar at several European universities, and he currently served on the board of the Nordic Educational Research Association and the editorial board of the European Educational Research Journal (EERJ). Since his dissertation (2011) on the rise of educational testing in Denmark in the 20th century, Ydesen has e.g. researched the global history of OECD in education and the frictions between educational assessment and inclusive education.

Christian Ydesen’s inaugural professor lecture is titled: ”Restoring Research in Education – Paradigms, Governing Complexes, Emancipation”

After the lecture the Department for Culture and Learning will host a reception, where we look forward to celebrating Christian Ydesen. The inaugural lecture takes place on Friday April 29 2022, 14.00-14.45 in Room 3.114 at Kroghstræde 3, 9220 Aalborg Øst.
