1. DEADLINE 30 APRIL: ANMÄLAN TILL NORDISKA UTBILDNINGSHISTORISKA KONFERENSEN
Arbetet med Sjätte nordiska utbildningshistoriska konferensen (20-21 augusti 2015) fortsätter. 28 sessioner ger konferensen ett brett och omfattande program, som passar väl till dess tvärvetenskapliga inriktning. I programmet finns sessioner som behandlar bland annat folkskolans, yrkesutbildningens och den högre utbildningens historia. Bland de teman som återkommer ingår internationaliseringsprocesser, skolreformer, professioner och skolämnenas historia.

Konferensens keynotes hålls av prof. Jane Humphries (Oxford) och prof. Daniel Tröhler (Luxembourg). Bland utställarna ingår Studentlitteratur, Nordic Journal of Educational History, Opuscula historica Upsaliensia, och Arbetsgruppen för utbildningshistoria i Uppsala.

Trots att konferensensen vetenskapliga program därmed är spikat, finns det fortfarande möjlighet att anmäla sitt deltagande utan paper. Deadline för anmälan med eller utan paper är satt till den 30 april 2015. Anmäler sig gör man genom att registrera sig på konferensens hemsida, under fliken ”Registrering”.

Uppdaterat schema samt närmare information om konferensbanketten kommer att publiceras på konferensens hemsida inom kort.

3. FULLY-FUNDED PHD STUDENTSHIP: A CENTURY OF STUDENT LIFE
Fully-funded PhD Studentship: A Century of Student Life: Town and Gown in Swansea 1920 – 2020, Swansea University – History

The Department of History and Classics, Swansea University, invites applications from suitably-qualified UK/EU candidates for a doctoral studentship, funded by the College of Arts and Humanities, to conduct research on the evolution of student life over the first century of the university’s history. The research will encompass evolving attitudes towards protest, gender, alcohol, popular music and fashion in the student population and the wider community, and the social and cultural implications of the presence of a student body for its wider town and region. There will be some scope for the recipient to shape the precise direction of the research according to his/her interests and expertise.

The studentship, which is full-time and will run for three years, will begin in October 2015, and will be supervised by Dr Louise Miskell and Dr Martin Johnes. Applicants should have a background in the social or cultural history of modern Britain. Experience of conducting independent archival research is highly desirable, as the successful applicant will be expected to carry out research in Swansea University’s Richard Burton Archives and may also undertake a programme of oral history interviewing. S/he will be expected to undertake up to six hours per week of tutorial teaching for the Department of History and Classics during the second and third years of the studentship.

Academic Requirements:
*Applicants should have a first class or upper second class undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline and have completed or be working towards a master’s degree in history, modern or contemporary history, or another appropriate historical subject.
*The ideal candidate will have experience of conducting independent archival research and the ability to work to deadlines.

4. DEADLINE 1 MAJ: ESSHC 2016 (VALENCIA)
Den 1 maj är deadline för paper och sessionsförslag till European Social Science History Conference i Valencia, 30 mars-2 april 2016. Konferensen är organiserad kring 28 nätverk, däribland Education & Childhood som organiseras av Bengt Sandin (Linköping) och Steve Lasonde (Harvard), och brukar ha ett betydande deltagande från de nordiska länderna.
