2. NERA 2015 – MARKETISATION AND DIFFERENTIATION IN EDUCATION
4-6 March 2015 in Gothenburg
Call for Papers: NERA Historical research network. Network coordinator: Magnus Hultén, Linköping University, magnus.hulten@liu.se
Theme of NERA 2015 is Marketisation and Differentiation in Education: Decentralisation, deregulation and restructuring of various national educational systems, along with the expansion of choice opportunities, began arguably in the 1970s, and effectively spread to the Nordic countries during the early 1990s.
Local Authorities and their schools were given more independence from direct State control and private choice and consumption began to be prioritized, nurtured by the logic of economic growth, marketisation and consumerism. What are the consequences of these developments for children, pupils, teachers, parents, and/or local communities, and in what ways have they influenced the education systems, institutions and professionals in the Nordic countries and affected educational standards and equality there?
NFPF/NERA, the main association for educational researchers in the Nordic countries. It is a basis for cooperation and development of educational research. It is open for everyone that has an interest in educational research in the Nordic context. Historical perspectives on the main theme of the conference are especially welcome
